RetroAmp - Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how RetroAmp ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

RetroAmp does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our own servers. The app does not require user registration or login to function.

Local Data Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

This data is not transmitted to RetroAmp servers. We do not operate any backend service that receives your personal data.

Third-Party Services

RetroAmp integrates with the following optional third-party services. These integrations are opt-in — the app works fully without them.

Last.fm (optional)

If you choose to log in to Last.fm and enable Scrobbling, RetroAmp sends your listening history (track title, artist, album, timestamp) to Last.fm using the credentials you provide. You must supply your own Last.fm API key and secret in Settings. Authentication is performed directly between your device and Last.fm; RetroAmp never sees or stores your Last.fm password.

See Last.fm Privacy Policy for how Last.fm handles this data.

LRCLIB (optional)

When the lyrics feature is used, RetroAmp may query the public LRCLIB lyrics database using track title, artist, album, and duration. No personal identifiers are sent. You can disable lyrics fetching per-track by rejecting the fetched result.

See LRCLIB for details about this service.

Album Art Search (optional)

When you use the "Search Art Online" feature, RetroAmp queries public album art APIs (such as iTunes Search API) with the artist and album name you provide. No personal identifiers are sent.

In-App Purchases

The app offers optional in-app purchases to expand skin slot capacity (Lite and Pro tiers). These transactions are processed by Apple (App Store) and are subject to Apple's privacy policy:

RetroAmp only receives the purchase entitlement status from StoreKit. We do not receive payment information.

File Access

RetroAmp accesses audio files you explicitly select from Files.app, iCloud Drive, or other file providers. Imported files are copied into the app's sandbox (Documents folder) for offline playback. The app does not scan your device for music outside of the files you choose to import.

If you grant Photos library access, RetroAmp can import album artwork images you select. Photo access is optional and only used when you manually pick an image.

Analytics and Tracking

RetroAmp does not use any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking frameworks. We do not collect usage data, telemetry, or device identifiers.

Advertising

RetroAmp does not display advertisements. The app does not integrate AdMob or any other ad network.

Children's Privacy

RetroAmp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
